Acuvue Oasys with Transitions Reviews
Different
I wont say I don't like these contacts. They are thicker so they take some getting used to. I have very sensitive and dry eyes. I will use these when I am going to be outside for extended periods and keep my regular contacts for everyday use.
Unbelievably awesome
I am so thrilled with these lenses it's not funny. They are incredible! I use them just on days when I'm doing major outdoors stuff in bright sunshine all day. It completely takes away the need for sunglasses and you're not squinting all the time. You feel so comfortable, almost like you have superpowers.
Indoors, these lenses look completely normal. When you go outside into bright light, they take less than 15 seconds to adapt and darken. The lenses do change your appearance when they're dark, though. They turn a dark brown (with a slight purple tint), and because they cover slightly beyond your iris, they make your iris look bigger and darker. To be honest, it looks quite good, although slightly unnatural (it basically makes it look like you have brown eyes - whereas mine are light blue - but the perceived extra-large iris is the trippy part).
You can't perceive the color when looking through them, though, which is great. Your brain *completely* normalizes the color; you can't detect any trace of it in your vision. (And I work in photography and imaging for a living - this is my jam - so I'm very sensitive to that kind of thing.)
How dark do they get? Just from looking at the the dark shade on the lenses when I open the case in direct sunlight, I'd say (when fully active) they cut the light down by 2-3 f-stops (i.e. reduce it by 4-8x), which is exactly what I was hoping for. When indoors, they are completely clear and don't reduce light levels at all.
I highly recommend these lenses.
These lenses are nice!
I really like the transitions. They are more like polarized lenses where you can see clearly and you don't notice any tint. They seem to help at nightime too by reducing the glare. I would recommend these. They are expensive, but you are paying for the technology.
